Out like a LION

This is what our driveway looked like on Thursday March 26, 2009. Can you believe it. It was 26 inches of snow. 26 inches are you kidding me?????

As you can see the snow blower worked really hard, the snow was deeper than the machine. It was a little crazy.

This week was a little adventurous for us. On Monday, the snow was coming down really good. The school called and said please come get your kids by 1 today. So, thankfully Kennen was home so he could drive in the snow ( I don't like to, I usually get stuck). On Tuesday school was cancelled because of the snow. Kennen has to leave town and go work with a line crew in between Wright and Bill Wyoming. Thanks to the snow storm that wrecked havoc on the power lines. He is gone until Thursday night around 10 pm. Anyway, School is back in on Wednesday. Thursday we get a call, it is a late start day, cause of the snow. (pictures above were taken on Thursday) Thursday was worse than Tuesday. Don't know why they cancelled school Tuesday. We also cancelled scouts on Thursday cause of all the snow. Friday the sun finally decided to appear and bless us with its light. If any of you are wondering if I got stuck this snow storm. The answer is yes I did. I went to go get Robbie from school and I was only gone for 30 mins and when I came back I couldn't get into my drive way again. (Thursday) I had to get out, get the shovel and snowblower and push the car by hand back so I could try to get enough snow gone to drive over it. How crazy is that???

The boys are growing so fast it is crazy to me. We went and bought Robbie a new church suit and white shirt on Saturday. Sid told Robbie why do you get to get clothes from the store. Why don't you just go downstairs and look through a bin. Isn't that sad??? My four year old is so deprived that he thinks clothes and shoes come from the basement out of a bin. Obviously we just did that cause he had out grown a lot of his clothes as well.

We hope that you all have a great week. We love you all. Remember to pray for Spring.. We are so ready and so tired of all the snow. It is suppossed to start up again tonight. sigh.... I guess I should look at it from this angle, we will have enough moisture to last us through the summer months and we should be very thankful for that.

Pinewood Derby

This week was our pinewood derby it was held on Thursday March 19,2009. The boys had a great time preparing for this annual event. They draw out a design, then cut it, sand it, paint it, add axels and tires. Oh, most important we have to weight them. If they are over 5 ounces then you must take wood out of them which means you get holes in the bottom of the car. If they are under 5 ounces you get to add weight. And the final thing you do is graphite the tires and axels. Don't forget to put them in the hole tap tap tap, spin add more doing the same process. By the way we did this to 3 cars.

The time is 7pm and the racers walk into the gym. Each with a car in hand, first stop is to me. I have the scale and I get the privilage of weighing each car in. After they all get to be 5 ounces they start to graphite there axels and tires, and then they put there cars on the table. (once it is there you can't do anything else to the car).

The races start......The winner is......Riley bummer Robbie was so close, his car took second place. He was excited about that. He got a cool medal and everything.

Kennen's car was the potato car, Robbie made "The Mystery Machine" and Sid made the tank from Indiana Jones. Each one was pretty cool looking. Our total of cars that we get to display thus far is 5 Still 4 more years of cubscouts left. And if each boy makes one car each of those years we will have like 17 cars when we are done. WOW!!!!!

A Weekend of fun

Weekends of FUN

A lot has happened since the last post. Wow!!! We went to Utah for Luke's blessing. We were so excited to finally beable to go and see the new baby. We arrived in Utah on Saturday around 7pm. We stayed with Shad and Jenny which was a lot of fun for the boys. The drive to Utah was pretty uneventful. (side note: before we left Kennen had to work so the boys and I went to Safeway cause they were having killer deals on T.P. and papertowels. I bought 5 eight roll paper towels and 4 twenty four roll T.P. 3 dollars a piece. AWESOME!!!) Anyway, we got to Utah and went to NPS first thing cause we knew we wouldn't have time anyother day. Gotta love that store. We got to Shad and Jenny's and the boys had a blast playing.
On Sunday, Shad and Jenny went to church and we just hung out at there house while the were gone. Everyone started arriving around 130pm for the blessing. It was great to see Grandma and Grandpa Hansen, Mom and Jack, Jane, Sara, Ivan and kids. The blessing was nice and little which is always a good thing in my book. That night after all left, we broke out the rock band. Can I just say that was so much fun. It was good to have Kennen playing with us and so much fun to hear my brother sing songs. I so wish I had a video camera to capture the moment.
On Monday we left early, we had set up doctor appointments and a tax appointment while we were there. After all of the appointments we went to Macey's (another favorite) and bought a ton of case lot items. We are trying to re-stock our food storage since that is what we have been living on since we moved. We loved going to Macey's and the first thing the boys wanted as soon as we pulled into the parking lot was an ice cream cone. Gotta love 'em. When we got back to Shad and Jenny's it was around 330pm and it was snowing. We got our stuff together and headed home. We made it to Salt Lake without any real problems in the snowstorm, but when we started heading up Parley's we decided we had a problem it took us over 2 hours to go from Salt Lake to Park City. When we got to Park City we pulled over for a bite to eat and an update on I-80. Two of my friends in Wyoming had been checking the weather and road conditions all day for us and texting me with the info. Well, we couldn't come home I-80 shut down. We ended up having to find a motel room and spend a night there. Kennen had to call his boss and tell him we were stuck for the night and we would be arriving a little later than planned. Steve was cool about Kennen not coming in on Tuesday.
Tuesday morning we awoke and got breakfast and started on our journey again. After traveling awhile, Kennen said he was thankful we stopped cause the roads were still not friendly that morning. We drove and drove mind you very slowly. We passed wreck after wreck. Some of them required us to stop for long amounts of time. By the time we got home we were all tired, sick (literally) and we had been trying to get home for 28hours.
Wednesday, we spent the day in bed cause the boys and I were sick. We had such bad colds it was miserable. Thursday, I wasn't as achy as I had been so I got up but then Robbie started throwing up. So we spent that day catching throw up. Friday we all felt human again, and the boys were ready for a break outside so off to the castle park we go. Saturday, Kennen's uncle Mark and Aunt Verna come to our house and hung out for a couple of hours which was nice to see and talk with them. Kemmerer High School boys basketball team was in the championship game that night here in Casper. Their son Phil is the Ast. Coach so they came to support, which inturn had us going to help chear on the boys team as well. Robbie had a great time at the game and Sid did well until about the 3rd quarter and wanted to go home.

A blah week

Hello to you all, this week has just been a blah week. We haven't slept much and Sid is still coughing. Kennen is catching a cold and I think mine is on the way. Robbie has an ear infection which we are doing a round of antibiotics on him. (hopefully this time we don't end up at the doctors again)
Our house is all cleaned including both bathrooms and laundry done.... Going to a baby blessing on Sunday. Yea! We went to scouts this week for the first time as leaders and had a great time. Can't wait to continue on that venture. Love the scouts.

This week I learned that we take so many things for granted. Let me explain. I went on a field trip with Sids class and we went to the "dinosaur" museum here in Casper. What???? I don't know how they could call it a dinosaur museum. No dinosaurs okay so they had a head cast of the T-Rex and that is about it. I guess I was so lucky to grow up in Carbon County with dinosaurs everywhere. Even Thanksgiving points musuem is amazing. Also, if you have never lived outside of Utah you take things like going to the temple for granted. The nearest temple to us is either Billings Montana or Denver Colorado. I got a call the other day from my dear friend's Ashleigh and Layla both telling me about the new temple in Utah. I wonder why in that little area there can be 3 temples so close together, 1 in A.F., Salt Lake, Bountiful, Provo. Did I miss any that are with in 30 mins driving from any direction? I really wonder if we realize how many things are so close to us and we don't take full advantage of them. Any way, maybe someday Wyoming will get even just a mini temple.
